1° Day (Saturday) Palermo
Arrival in
Palermo. Transfer to the hotel by your own. Dinner and accommodations.
2° Day (Sunday) Palermo-
Monreale
Breakfast at the hotel. In the
morning departure to Monreale and visit the Cathedral as well as the
Cloister. Visit keeps on with Palermo including: Palatine Chapel,
Palermo’s Cathedral as well as a panoramic tour. Lunch at hotel.
Afternoon at your own or possibility to participate to an optional (to
be paid locally) excursion to Erice, small medieval village situated in
Trapani’s province as well as the salt mills. Back to Palermo. Dinner
and accomodation.
3° day (Monday) Palermo –
Segesta -Erice-Trapani-Agrigento
Breakfast and departure to Segesta to
visit the Doric Temple. Continue to Selinunte: vist by your own of the
archaeological area. After the visit, we will have a special lunch in a
local farmhouse (famous for its olive oil production). We will have some
food tasting and wine tasting. After lunch, departure to Agrigento and
visit the Valley fo the Temples, known for its well preserved Greek
Temples. Dinner and accommodation at hotel.
4° day (Tuesday) Agrigento-Piazza
Armerina-Siracusa
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to
Catania and visit the second biggest city in Sicily. In particular we
will visit the Cathedral, the famous Via Etnea, but also the beautiful
Fish market. Lunch at a local restaurant and continue to Syracuse.
Dinner and accomodation at hotel.
5° day (Wednesday) Siracusa –
Ragusa - Catania
Breakfast at the hotel and departure
to Noto to admire the Cathedal wich has been renovated after many years.
Back to Syracuse. Lunch at hotel. In the afternoon. visit Siracusa:
founded between 734 – 733 b. C. It is in a splendid position in the east
of the Sicilian coast; it stretches out over the sea with the island of
Ortigia, where the major testimonies of its glorious past are: The
Minerva Temple, today a catholic church, the legendary Arethusa
Fountain, Apollo Temple, the Greek Theatre, the Roman Anfitheatre near
the Latomie and the Ear of Dionysus. Dinner in a local restaurant in
Ortigia, the fascinating historical center of the city. Accomodation at
hotel.
6° day (Thursday) Catania –
Monte Etna - Taormina - Messina
Breakfast to the hotel and then
departure to Mount Etna: it is the highest active volcano in Europe
(3345 mt).The bus will bring you up to the “Rifugio Sapienza” 1800 m.
Visit of the extinguished Craters of Mounts Silvestri. Wonderful variety
of fauna and flora and moony landscapes can be seen on the way. The
special ambient created during the centuries under nature, culture and
history is inimitable all over the world. We will proceed to a farmhouse
where we will taste the most special sicilian dishes. Continuation to
Taormina: pretty and romantic town on the Mount Tauro (204 mt). Spare
time to visit the famous Greek Theatre with a splendid view of the Mount
Etna and the Ionian sea or to do shopping and to stroll through the
picturesque lanes of the city centre. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
7° day (Friday) Messina-Reggio Calabria-Capo
D’Orlando-Cefalu’-Palermo
Breakfast at the hotel and departure
to Messina, sightseeing tour of the city and its famous Cathedral.
Continuation to a farmhouse or restaurant to lunch very typical products
of the island. We will proceed to Cefalù:splendid fishermen’s village
and seaside resort. Visit of the huge Norman Cathedral, founded in 1131
by Roger II and of the Medieval Lavatory. Time at leisure to stroll
through the narrow lanes of the historic centre full of shops and
restaurants. Continue to Palermo, dinner and overnight to the hotel.
8° day (Saturday) Palermo
Breakfast at
hotel. End of our services. |
