On the way stop and visit with local guide of San Gimignano a small walled medieval hilltop town in Tuscany southwest of Florence. The town also is known for the white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, grown in the area. In the afternoon arrival in Florence. Meeting with assistance and overnight stay.

Day 05 - Florence

Breakfast at hotel. Car, driver and local guide at disposal for 6 hrs. City of Etruscan-roman origins, it flourished in the middle ages as a free commune. Furtherly refines by the renaissance art Florence is the cradle of the Italian language. The best-known site and crowning architectural jewel of Florence is the domed cathedral of the city, Santa Maria del Fiore, known as The Duomo. The magnificent dome was built by Filippo Brunelleschi. The nearby Campanile tower (partly designed by Giotto) and the Baptistery buildings are also highlights. Both the dome itself and the campanile are open to tourists and offer excellent views. At the heart of the city in Piazza della Signoria is Bartolomeo Ammanati's Fountain of Neptune, which is a masterpiece of marble sculpture at the terminus of a still functioning Roman aqueduct. The Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), whose most striking feature is the multitude of shops built upon its edges, held up by stilts. The bridge also carried Vasari's elevated corridor linking the Uffizi to the Medici residence (Palazzo Pitti). First constructed by the Etruscans in ancient times, this bridge is the only one in the city to have survived World War II intact. The elaborate Santa Croce church contains the monumental tombs of Galileo, Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Dante (actually a cenotaph), and many other notables. Overnight stay.

Day 06 - Florence / Verona / Venice

Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Verona. Visit with local guide of Verona: the birthplace of Catullus, and the town that Julius Caesar selected for his relaxing stays. In its history many important names passed and evenights happened that were relevant for the European history, like Theodoric the Great, king of Ostrogoths, Charlemagne and Pippin of Italy, Dante. Conclaves were held here, as were important congresses. Verona was in the travel diaries of Goethe, Stendhal and Paul Valéry. Verona is the setting of the story of Romeo and Juliet, made famous by William Shakespeare, a balcony falsely claiming historical connection to the fictional lovers has become a tourist attraction for lovers; the short passageway leading to the balcony is covered with slips of paper carrying their graffiti, and a bronze statue of Juliet stands under the balcony, one breast polished by those touching it for luck. Verona is famous for its Roman amphitheatre, the Arena, completed around 30 AD, which is the third largest in Italy, after Rome's Coliseum and the arena at Capua, After the visit we continue to Venice. Arrival to Piazzale Roma and transfer with private boat to the Island at the Hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 07 -  Venice

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning walking tour. Venice's nicknames include "Queen of the Adriatic", "City of Water", "City of Bridges", and "The City of Light". The Venetian Republic was a major sea power and a staging area for the Crusades, as well as a very important centre of commerce (especially the spice trade) and art in the Renaissance. Piazza San Marco, often known in English as St Mark's Square, is the principal square of Venice. It is the only great urban space in a European city where human voices prevail over the sounds of motorized traffic, which is confined to Venice's waterways. Piazza San Marco is extremely popular with tourists, photographers, and pigeons. The buildings around the Piazza are, anti-clockwise from the Grand Canal, the Doge's Palace, St Mark's Basilica, St Mark's Clock tower, the Procuratie Vecchie, the Napoleonic Wing of the Procuraties, the Procuratie Nuove, St Mark's Campanile and Logetta and the Biblioteca Marciana. Most of the ground floor of the Procuraties is occupied by cafés, including the Caffè Florian and Gran Caffè Quadri. In the afternoon Gondola ride all around the beautiful “canali”.
