Furtherly refines by the renaissance art Florence is
the cradle of the Italian language. The best-known
site and crowning architectural jewel of Florence is
the domed cathedral of the city, Santa Maria del
Fiore, known as The Duomo. The magnificent dome was
built by Filippo Brunelleschi. The nearby Campanile

buildings are also highlights. Both the dome itself

Neptune, which is a masterpiece of marble sculpture
at the terminus of a still functioning Roman

striking feature is the multitude of shops built
upon its edges, held up by stilts. The bridge also

this bridge is the only one in the city to have

of Ostrogoths, Charlemagne and Pippin of Italy,
Dante. Conclaves were held here, as were important
congresses. Verona was in the travel diaries of
Goethe, Stendhal and Paul Valéry. Verona is the
setting of the story of Romeo and Juliet, made
famous by William Shakespeare, a balcony falsely
claiming historical connection to the fictional
lovers has become a tourist attraction for lovers;
the short passageway leading to the balcony is
covered with slips of paper carrying their graffiti,
and a bronze statue of Juliet stands under the
balcony, one breast polished by those touching it
for luck. Verona is famous for its Roman
amphitheatre, the Arena, completed around 30 AD,

Piazza San Marco |
Day 07 -
Venice
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning walking tour.
Venice's nicknames include "Queen of the Adriatic",
"City of Water", "City of Bridges", and "The City of
Light". The Venetian Republic was a major sea power
and a staging area for the Crusades, as well as a
very important centre of commerce (especially the
spice trade) and art in the Renaissance. Piazza San
Marco, often known in English as St Mark's Square,
is the principal square of Venice. It is the only
great urban space in a European city where human
voices prevail over the sounds of motorized traffic,
which is confined to Venice's waterways. Piazza San
Marco is extremely popular with tourists,
photographers, and pigeons. The buildings around the
Piazza are, anti-clockwise from the Grand Canal, the
Doge's Palace, St Mark's Basilica, St Mark's Clock
tower, the Procuratie Vecchie, the Napoleonic Wing
of the Procuraties, the Procuratie Nuove, St Mark's
Campanile and Logetta and the Biblioteca Marciana.
Most of the ground floor of the Procuraties is
occupied by cafés, including the Caffè Florian and
Gran Caffè Quadri. In the afternoon Gondola ride all
around the beautiful “canali”. Overnight stay in
hotel.
