Its the third largest in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. Naples was founded between the 7th and 6th centuries B.C. by the Greeks (actually, by inhabitanights of the Greek colony Cuma) and was given the name Neapolis, meaning new city. It is located halfway between the volcano, Vesuvius and a separate volcanic area, the Campi Flegrei, both of which form part of the Campanian volcanic arc. The inhabitanights are known as Neapolitans, napoletani or poetically partenopei. It is rich in historical, artistic and cultural traditions and gastronomy. The Neapolitan language is the geographically most diffuse Italian language, similar variations of the Neapolitan dialect ('o napulitano) are spoken throughout most of Southern Italy. Between 1266 and 1861 Naples has been the capital town of the Kingdom of Naples (later of the Two Sicilies), usually simply indicated as "the Kingdom". In 1995 the Historic Centre of Naples was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. There are, many attractions within the city: Castell dell’Ovo, Maschio Angioino, San Carlo Theatre brief panoramic visit. Continue to Pompeii, visit of the excavations of this Roman town destroyed by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Continue to Amalfi. Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at hotel. Free time to discover the beauty of this wonderful coastal town. Amalfi is a town in the province of Salerno, in the region of Campania southeast of Naples. It lies at the mouth of a deep ravine, at the foot of Monte Cerreto surrounded by dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. The town of Amalfi was the capital of The Maritime Republic of Amalfi, between 839 and around 1200. Amalfi is the main town of the coast on which it is located, named Costiera Amalfitana, and is today an important tourist destination together with other towns on the same coast, such as Positano, Ravello and others. Amalfi is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Amalfi coast is famed for its production of Limoncello liqueur and home-made paper used throughout Italy for wedding invitations, visiting cards and elegant writing paper. It has two adjoining harbours, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate commune of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west.
